To begin with: It would be exaggerated calling Wawox an Enterprise content management system – not yet. Nevertheless you can use Wawox successfully in Enterprise Content Management projects for middle sized companies and institutions with similar requests.
AIIM International (Association for Information and Image Management) defines Enterprise Content Management this way:
"Enterprise Content Management is the technologies used to Capture, Manage, Store, Preserve and Deliver content and documents related to organizational processes."
(AIIM, 2005)
In winter 2006 AIIM added the following paragraph to the definition:
ECM tools and strategies allow the management of an organization's unstructured information, wherever that information exists."
 

So what about Wawox ECM-projects? Wawox provides to you:

• Manage: Modify and structure contents, delete contents, assign keywords and other meta data
• Store: Wawox data are stored both on database and on filesystem; for good performance and easy dump-abilities you will find only text elements in your database, no binary files. Big sized files like documents or media data are just saved as a reference including meta data, the files itself are stored on the server file system (centralised in one folder for easy backup)
• Preserve: Wawox architecture allows simple long time storage-solutions and Wawox 3.0 will come with functions to archive your data
• Deliver: Publish your content using personalized rights in extranet or intranet or publish the same content in different media types (cross media-publishing)
